Good to see people posting again. Praise God you are okay Jerry. Rest and heal up.

My husband, Bill was just diagnosed with cancer. He is undergoing radiation and chemo for 7 weeks, then will have a radical neck dissection, then another go round of radiation and chemo. He has head and neck cancer.

The day Bill was diagnosed, we could hear Tony saying "Saddle up cowboy, it is gonna be a tough ride, but we can do this thing together". With Tony's dog Buster in Bill's lap and by his side every day, the snow covered mountaintops and horses running across the snow, we can feel Tony's spirit every day. God Bless him and the way he could just make anyone feel better with his comforting words and that big smile :)

If you would like to join Bill's journey, join us at www.caringbridge.org/visit/billrutledge

Jerry, I am so sorry to hear you have been ill. I'm sure the stress of the last few years has been a contributing factor, but I am also pleased to know you are doing better. Apparently God wanted to spend a bit more "alone time" with Tony before sharing him with you. We can surely understand why, as they must have much to discuss. Do take care, my friend, and know that I am still praying for heart's ease for all of you.

Sarah!
Thanks to you and Patsy and all of the other wonderful friends of Tony. It is always good to come to his site and see such wonderful comments about my son.

Just to bring everyone up a bit on myself I need to let everyone know that I am recovering from two heart attacks since Christmas. I had the first one in my Doctor's office and they rushed me to the hospital in Jackson, MS where I was informed that I almost did not make it.

I suffered some very serious damage to my heart but my doctors are some of the best in the world and it looks like i will recover. After placing a stent in my heart they sent me home to recover. About five days later I had another heart attack in the middle of the night and was rushed back to the hospital where they went back in to see what had happened to the original surgery. The first stent had not deployed quite properly and had formed a small blood clot causing the second heart attack. This one did not cause any additional damage to my heart and just required another stent which was placed in with the first one. They kept me two days in intensive care and one additional day in a regular hospital room and sent me home to recover.

That is where I am now and seem to be doing very well. Apparently, I almost saw Tony! Keep me in your prayers as I continue to heal from the damage done to my heart.

Thanks once again to all of you!

how sad to come to Tony's site to see how he was doing and see he passed. I will never forget Tony. He was a light in my life and a lot others I am sure his music was a gift and Jimmy Fortune singing it was a bigger gift. Again I am so sorry for your loss and his familys loss. Mandy

I attended a Jimmy Fortune concert and just fell in love with a couple of Tony's songs. I came here to the web looking for how to obtain sheet music, not realizing he is now in heaven. What a lovely gift he had.

Sarah,
Thanks for your note about Jimmy! Your love for Tony and his music has always been noticed by Tony's family.

Jimmy and Tony were like brothers and often wrote together. Jimmy Fortune, in our opinion, is one of the finest artist in the industry. Everyone can read comments about Tony by Jimmy and other major artists and musicians (before Tony's death) can be seen on the main page of this site.

I remember times when all of us, along with other stars of the music business, sat around on the floor at Jimmy's home and listened to new material by him that had not been released yet. He is truly an awesome writer and singer.

Tony loved him dearly!

It is good to read all the comments about Tony here. He is truly missed, by me and many others, I am sure. I would surely like to see more of his works performed.

TO JIM who posted a couple messages ago: Jimmy Fortune is the former tenor with the Statler Brothers who continued a solo career after they retired in 2002. He recorded several of Tony's songs. Check out jimmyfortune.com or jimmyfortune.org. The music is available there along with a discussion board and wonderful folks who all miss Tony dearly.

I heard on a local Southern Gospel radio station one day, the most moving, beautiful and powerful song I believe I've ever heard. I am 63yrs. old, born again, and have been around Southern Gospel and religious music all my life so I'm no newby and that song just grabbed me and touched me like no other. I began to research it and found it was sung by someone named Jimmy Fortune and through further research I found it was written by a Tony Brower, and then, upon further research discovered this blessed and gifted song writer had passed away. What a tragic, tragic loss this has been to the Southern Gospel music scene and I can't imagine what it must be like for his loved ones and friends. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I think it would be neat if we left stories about our times and memories of Tony on here. Anyone got a good story on Tony?

I remember one time traveling, I think it was in Illinois, we found an Irish Setter lost in a parking lot in the city. It kept following us and hanging around. Tony wanted to keep it. No room for a big ole dog in the airstream. Just couldn't talk them into it. He always had a big heart for all God's little critters.

I miss my friend with his sparkly eyes and his grin from ear to ear. I miss "Hey Buddy!!" I miss his positive attitude that could always lift me up and the funnies that could always make me smile. The bear hugs and good conversation. But.... I still hear his voice from time to time. I think to myself, "I know exactly what Tony would say". I see things I know he would like to be right there looking at and I do things that I know he'd love to be there for the ride. So, Partner, I feel your spirit with me and I heard you singing 'A Place called Hope' in my dreams last night. I know your daughters and Sidney too, they think of you all the time. You are loved and will never leave us.

Hey Anna I miss your Daddio too. I think of him often. You see those bumper stickers WWJD, but I often think in certain situations "What Would Tony Brower Do?" as he always had the right answer to most any problem or situation. I wish my brain could solve problems and find the right words like he did. You have the best Dad in the world living within you. His soul will always be with us.

Hey ya'll Julie mentioned Katie Brower's blog in her last post and it is certainly a site to bookmark. The link to copy/paste in your browser is http://katebrower.blogspot.com and she is a phenomenal writer. Be sure to read her post "Hey Pistol" which she wrote about her dad. Check it out and you can "Follow" her, see the "Follow" link on the right side, which will help her get sponsors. Katie has blossomed into a great writer and is certainly following in her father's footsteps in writing talent. Check it out.

I am so so shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my good old buddy Tony. I was searching for him on facebook and with no luck decided to Google him. We had stayed in touch of and on over the years, but it had been a while since I had talked to him. My love and prayers to all the family. Ricky and/or Eddie, if you read this please get in touch with me. I would love to talk to you again.

Time is said to be the great healer. In time the pain of our loss may lessen, but there will always be an emptiness that won't quite go away.

There is an empty place in the world where a Real Man once walked. Tony wrote and sang from his heart and he lived and loved with all his heart.

Those of us who knew him were truly blessed.

In watching the replay of Lonesome Dove it can't but remind me of how similar the character of "Gus" is to Tony especially in his "sayings" from time to time. This is an epitome of Tony portrayed in this movie. I shed many tears watching this thinking of Tony. I miss you my friend.

I would like to take a moment to share some of the wonderful memories I hold of Tony… I was a student of his brother Eddie. I trained for nearly a decade with Eddie in his Hattiesburg dojo. Tony would come on special occasions to visit and share in weekend “thump sessions.” An amazing martial artist this man was!! I would stand along side his brother and watch with admiration, the skill and intensity this man demonstrated as he performed in the ring.

It went so much deeper than that… I spent many many days and nights hanging out with the Brower family and shared some wonderful memories with them all. The Browers are a very special family to me… they have always been and always will be. I love you all so much. Please never forget that!! In times when I needed you most… you were near. Know that my love and prayers are with you now and always.

Tony, I remember like it was yesterday the thump session where I got in the ring to spar you. I put my headgear on. Before we started, you asked me why I put the gear on. I said because you’re a black belt and that intimidates me. You gave me that acknowledging head nod (bow), patted gloves with me and began your fancy footwork. Before I could take one step, that signature hook kick you did so well, removed the gear from my head without even messing up one hair on my head. What a talented human being you were in so many ways… It was an honor and a privilege to have shared a moment in time with you! I'll always carry that "Browertude" with me...

Until we meet again…
Love you, Tony!

I would like to express my deepest regret for the loss of Tony. On March 22 2009 I was visiting a friend that was in the same hospital as Tony. It was a cold rainy day and we were outside for some fresh air. As the rain came down we stood and talked and he told me about his illness. He also talked about his website and his home in Colorado. I felt that God put on my heart to pray for Tony. As we stood with the rain pouring down we prayed and the presence of God was with us. I did not get to know Tony but for about 20 minutes but I could tell he was a special person. I have prayed that the Holy Spirit will bring your family both peace and comfort during this time of mourning. May God help you to continue with His work as He will supply you with both the strength and grace that you will need.

Living4Him,
Mel Willian

This day was never tax day for me but simply my Tonio's birthday. Seems for me he never grew up, but stayed that mischievous young man I loved with all my heart. His rendition of "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" was right on.

What a little cutup he was making people laugh even through his illness. One of the three best nephews anybody could ask for. I'll miss those bearhugs as he whispered "I love you Aunt Joyce".

Today I'll celebrate his birthday knowing he's in great company, singing and praising his Savior.

To all of the Brower Family:
I want to express my sorrow for the loss of Tony. You have always been such a wonderful, loving family. I will always remember the Brower Family Singers singing at the Morgantown Church of God. What talent and fantastic family harmony! I had an album of yours that I played and played and played. Ricky, Tony and Eddie--each of you so talented, but then with a mother like Eleanor and a father like Jerry--how could you not be? Tina, I remember you and your sisters as three of the prettiest little girls I've ever seen. God bless each of you. I know your faith in God will see you through this. Nothing in heaven is really lost to us. There will be a happy reunion in a short while.

I was so heartbroken to hear of Tony Brower leaving this world. He and his wife, Julie were dear, dear friends of ours back in the Nashville Days. Tony was special man. I remember first going down to hear what everyone was calling an amazing bass player at a nasty little dive here in town. Little did we know when we saw him on stage singing and swinging that bass from side to side what a dear friend he would become and how he would make our lives so much more full of joy and happiness. My prayers go out to all, my love to Julie and the girls.

I was saddened to hear that my friend Tony had slipped from this life, but i know that our loss is heavens gain.My God Son was visiting me from Griffin, GA. after the memorial service at First Aeembly of God. He said he had attended a memorial service and ask me if i had ever heard of a Tony Brower and i said yes. He said that was the fellow who passed away. I was so shocked to hear it. May God be with the family at this time of sorrow is our prayer.

I am very sad to hear of Tony's death. He was a good man. When I moved to Griffin he was one of the first people I met. He was my dry cleaner and my friend. He would let me get dressed at the cleaners before work and he encouraged me to get more organized. My mom visited one time and he told her all about my organizational challenges. He thought that was real funny. He will be missed.

Mr.Brower: I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. I met him once and the memory of his smile and how much you look alike will remain part of my memories. I know that even though your heart is heavy, it is also at peace with the fact that you know he is not suffering any longer. You will see his smiling face again one day. If you need anything please feel free to call me. God Bless you and your family in their time of need. Coach Owen Spalding High

Jerry, Thanks for posting. I have wondered how all of you are doing.

Coming to Tony's site to "check" on him was a part of my daily routine. I am glad that his board has been left up as a living memorial to him.

We miss you, Tony. Rest in peace.

Thank you for the link! Very nice!

Many family and friends will be gathering from around the country tomorrow evening in Griffin, GA for the final Memorial to Tony. Some family members were able to attend the memorial at Eagles Way and we all appreciate Julie and my grand daughters Anna and Katie for arranging the service.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments on this board and your emails to us which are flowing in from around the world.

Chris and I are so saddened for the loss of Tony. Tony never had an unkind word to say about anyone and he always had a smile.

I met Tony at Rocky Mountain where he played bass in service to God and his church. I had the privilege of sharing in his gift of music as a fellow musician--let me tell you we were a solid rhythm section! Tony's heart shone through his smile, he loved everyone and had such a humility about him--he had a truly magnetic personality and people were drawn to him. He will be remembered always and missed deeply. I look forward to playing music with him again someday, I know we'll rock the heavens... God bless you Tony...

Tina, I am so sorry for your tragic loss. If there is anything you need or any way I can assist you please contact me--I'm local. I'm sure you know that Ted is also available. Together we can get anything done you may need.

Any one that knew Tony was blessed. My blessing continues each time I can hear his laugh and see his smiling happy face in my mind. My life like anyone reading this that knew him is better for the experience. Can we live our life as Tony did that someone will say that of us. Thank You Tony! Tina you are in my prayers.

Just got home from the service at Eagles Way Church and was BLESSED to have the honor of speaking and sharing at the service.. The one thing that was shared by all who spoke about Tony was the Passion he had for life, and the Love that he had for people.. May we remember this when we think about Tony, and may we ALL strive to treat each other and to love each other the way he loved us... Tony, we will miss you, but you will ALWAYS be in our hearts...
